New Years Resolution tips
According to research, only around one in five people manages to keep the promises they make to themselves at the start of the year. After the initial motivation, do you lose direction? Here are five tips for setting goals for the New Year -

Write down your resolutions and track your progress
Getting your goals in writing and tracking your progress are proven ways to help you achieve your New Year’s resolutions. This can keep you motivated and focused. In 1953, 1000 students were asked whether they had goals for their lives and if they had plans for achieving those goals. Only 3% said yes. 20 years later, they found out that the 30 students who said yes had made more money than all the other 97% combined!

Visualise Success
Really believing you will achieve your resolutions is important to success. Having a clear vision of how you are going to get their can help. See in your mind how you are going to make it happen. It might help to write down or draw your vision and how you will get there. Include how you will feel, what you have and where you will be if you manage to keep your resolutions.

Set SMART goals
Successful goal setting involves writing down what you want to achieve, how much and by when in detail. SMART goals are -
Specific - Set goals in enough detail so it is clear what you want to achieve
Measurable – your goals should be something you can measure
Achievable – To succeed you believe that your goals are attainable, not impossible
Regular – Lay out the steps to reach your goal in regular, consistent chunks.
Timely – Set deadlines. For long-term goals break down that goal into sub-goals with shorter timeframes.

Get friends and family to support you
Tell your friends and family about your New Year’s resolutions. Even better, see if you can find yourself a buddy who shares your New Year's resolution and support each other.

Keep trying
Don’t despair over the occasional slip-up. Do the best you can each day, and take each day one at a time. You can start over again! There's no reason you can't make a "New Year's resolution" any time of year. Your new habits will become second-nature in no time.
it’s a great opportunity to think about any new years’ resolutions you will be taking.
